More than 250 people attended the MindTech 2018 conference on the 5th December. We were pleased to be invited to present our research on virtual reality, including the recent Lancet article reporting the findings of a virtual reality therapy for people with a fear of heights. Professor Daniel Freeman presented this study, along with an update on the gameChange project.

The attendees were shown videos and screen shots of the virtual environments created by our colleagues at OxfordVR. We were overwhelmed by the positive response from the audience:

“This is really exciting (and rapidly developing) technology – with huge potential for psychological interventions!”

“I think this work is absolutely fascinating. I think a service like this could be extraordinary for young persons with psychosis.”

“Great to see how considerably virtual reality tech has moved on.”

Thank you to our colleagues at MindTech for hosting the event. We are already looking forward to next year! To hear more about the MindTech Conference, search for #MindTech2018 on Twitter, or check out this podcast miniseries from Mental Elf.
